Impact of strike in India's business hub

The railway strike in Mumbai had now become law and order issue. About 65% of the total working population depends on train to get commuted from office and home. Due to strike on 4th and 5th May 2010 , most of them faced hardship in reaching home and office. Due to strike only 18% of the total population with government reported and 30% with private respectively.

The total business is deserted. Several of the employees stayed away from work as they did not want to face the same as they faced Monday evening. Stock market too looked dull as most of the traders did not trade. Think the state government would go with ESMA ( Essential Services Maintenance Act ).

The left parties were in support of the strike but atleast the Shivsena and BJP demands immediate action. Anything that cause damage or destruction to the country and its economy should be cut from the root. Lets listen what happens..!!!

  1. True. Strikes and disruptions should be dealt with a heavy hand so that ordinary man doesn't suffer. There is always a flipside to any problem. In this issue, motormen are made to work all 7 days a week, 365 days a year for 7.5 hours daily. Add to that their salary structure is similar to that of other railway motormen who enjoy a day off every week. The working conditions are no doubt pathetic. Isn't it the duty of administrators to address the issue before they are up in arms? Its not just the motormen but the administrators as well who has to take equal share of blame for allowing the problem to fester.
